PHYSICAL EDUCATION
K-8 GENERAL INFORMATION
When it is necessary to be excused from physical education for medical reasons, please send a note to the office. A note is also necessary when a student is able to continue activity after having been restricted. Students are often over-anxious to get back into class before they should after having been restricted for a medical reason. Their pleading is difficult to resist, especially when I am there to encourage activity.
Encourage fitness and physical activity in your child. Engage in activities along with them. Encourage their natural desire to be active. Commit to be fit along with them. Fitness begins with an active lifestyle.
Encourage a nutritious diet. This has a tremendous effect on a student's performance in the classroom and in physical education. Obesity in children is in the news often. Life is hard enough as it is without adding this and other nutrition-related issues to the mix. Encourage healthy snacking. Be a positive model because you are a model.

Encourage good sportsmanship. Talk to your child about appropriate ways to handle themselves in situations that arise in competitive situations. Students demonstrate very well what has been demonstrated to them. There will be those who will demonstrate poor judgment in the area of sportsmanship, and it is unfortunate that much of the "professional" examples are less than appropriate. We need you to help reinforce a high standard of good sportsmanship and respect for others as that is what we are trying to accomplish in our program here at CA. This is a life-skill that will reap great benefits on more than just the field of competition.
