These broad goals define the purpose of the physical education curriculum of Clintonville Academy.
Pre-Kindergarten through grade two goals:
to develop basic movement and motor skills
to develop creativity and expression with movement
to develop motor skills in relationship to sport activities.
to acquire kowledge and understanding of sport activities, including rules, strategy, and safety concepts
to acquire knowledge and understanding of the mechanics and principles of specific skills.
Grades three through eight goals:
to experience success regardless of skill level
to develop a positive self-image
to develop poise and self-control in competitive situations
to develop positive peer relationships which begins with the respect of others
to appreciate team sports in various settings
to develop interest in leisure time activities
to develop a positive attitude toward life-time fitness
to develop a positive attitude toward sports and related activities
Skills, concepts and generalizations introduced at one level are reinforced and refined in new and more complex situations at subsequent grade levels.
