Goals
Increase skills in all 4-communication areas: listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing.
Increase awareness of the system that governs the correct us of the Spanish Language.
Encourage the use of Spanish in most communication efforts during class.
Increase knowledge and awareness of Spanish–speaking people around the world (including geography, history, current events, customs and culture)
Grading
Notebook Project: (10% of quarter grade). Each student will be required to keep the class notes in the Spanish binder. The binder will be collected and checked each quarter. Please don’t give me a notebook with papers that are all jumbled up and out of order. I will hand it back to you and you will have I day to fix it up.
Class notes will only be accepted one day late and will receive a 10-point penalty.
Homework (20% of quarter grade).Missing homework policy: 1st missing homework = ten points will be deducted (out of 100 points). All subsequent missing homework = grade zero and 7:15 am detention. When students are absent, they will have a number of days to make up homework equal to the length of the absence. The study partner is responsible for taking assignments and handouts for his absent partner.
Dictados (15% of quarter grade). Dictados will consist of new vocabulary to test spelling and listening comprehension. Students must learn to spell each word correctly as well as give its English meaning.
Quizzes (15% of quarter grade) Quizzes will be given regularly to test listening and reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary.
Tests (30% of quarter grade) A test will be given at the end of each quarter. A Chapter Test will be given after the sections of the chapter have been studied.
MAKE-UP DICTADOS, QUIZZES AND TESTS MUST BE TAKEN WITHIN 5 SCHOOL DAYS OF HIS/HER RETURN. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO ARRANGE TO TAKE ALL MAKE-UP WORK.
Dialogue Presentation (10% of quarter grade) every quarter the student will work with a classmate to memorize and present a dialog in front of the class. The grading of this activity will be based on whether the dialog flows naturally, is completely memorized, and demonstrates correct pronunciation and intonation.

All written must be done on standard-size notebook paper in pencil or pen. Papers should include:
